LISBON WELCOMED STUDENTS FROM ACROSS EUROPE AS THEY LEARN TO BE ENTREPRENEURS

JA-YE Europe Trade Fair 2010 was held in Lisbon - Portugal on March 19-20. The event was hosted by JA Portugal.

March is peak sales season for secondary school students running student companies. A vast array of company stands featuring their products and services were on display at Lisbon’s largest shopping mall. The JA-YE Europe Trade Fair is one of the most exciting and rewarding moments of the year. It’s the realization of months of enterprising preparation as students experience what it really feels like to be entrepreneurs. They and their business have to face the marketplace and the public.

Hosted by JA Portugal, the event brought together teams from 23 European countries. Such events are an important teaching element in what is an intensive full-year course about entrepreneurship that involves both teachers and business advisers. It is a test of students’ team-working and problem-solving skills, as well as their competence in organizing, communicating and presenting.
